Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD/Intrusive Thoughts

We are confident in providing ERP, is the gold-standard treatment for OCD. ERP helps individuals gradually face feared situations while reducing compulsive behaviors, allowing anxiety to decrease naturally over time. OCD can feel exhausting and confusing, often involving intrusive thoughts and repetitive behaviors that interfere with daily life. Many people with OCD feel stuck in cycles of anxiety, checking, reassurance-seeking, or mental rituals that take up more time and energy than they would like.

We provide specialized OCD therapy using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help individuals reduce compulsions and regain freedom from intrusive thoughts. We enhance ERP with ACT infused concepts that blend beautifully to creative exposures in conjunction with our clients.

Via constant collaboration,  we tailor each exposure program to the unique client while providing the safety and empowerment that sustains this work. Clients are able to learn, practice, and implement the necessary skills to allow their minds to have thoughts and feelings while making purposeful and values congruent choices.

    Common OCD symptoms include:

    - Intrusive thoughts about harm, safety, or morality

    - Excessive checking behaviors

    - Cleaning or contamination fears

    - Reassurance seeking

    - Repeating actions until things feel "just right"

    - Mental rituals or reviewing thoughts

    - Difficulty tolerating uncertainty

    EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing)

We provide trauma-informed therapy using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an evidence-based treatment for trauma and PTSD. EMDR is an empirically validated treatment that has been proven to soften and expand our perspective on experienced trauma among other disorders. By being present in the safety of the therapeutic environment, clients are guided to resurrect challenging/traumatic material to work though, honor, and understand more deeply.

EMDR allows for healing in areas where clients often find themselves stuck and can enhance ones therapeutic journey significantly. By being with their emotional distress in a specific and open manner, the person is able to adaptively heal in ways that felt previously unaccessible. Clients who are in individual therapy with another provider are still welcomed to reach out and utilize EMDR to supplement their current treatment.

    Couples/Family Therapy

We believe that intimacy and connection are some of the strongest values we can hold as humans and that relationships are hard. Training with Sue Johnson to learn Emotion Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), allows us to identify specific patterns and traps couples/families tend to fall into.

We utilize this knowledge to normalize, build awareness, and create more opportunities for choice that are congruent with how people want to show up in their relationships. Through exploration of emotions, we witness people finding courage within to express themselves and communicate their feelings to others.

We pride ourselves on providing a comprehensive perspective on women’s health that includes fertility and family building concerns. By training at the Seleni Institute, we have deepened our awareness and understanding of miscarriages, grief, and postpartum concerns.

We also nurture those who are struggling with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and often partner with Spring OBGYN to provide clients with multidisciplinary support.
